 Park syuting iklan  untuk produk baru perusahaan makanan Ottogi , Jisimian. Iklan  mulai ditayangkan pada tanggal  12 Desember.

Park  membuktikan bahwa ia adalah salah satu wakil yang paling populer bagi perusahaan. Dia syuting  lebih dari 4 iklan sendiri, termasuk, TiO, Nintendo Wii, dan Black Smith. Ia juga syuitng  beberapa iklan lainnya NII, Penzal Q, dan Optimus Q2 dengan anggota kelompok.

Seorang juru bicara Park mengatakan,

“Banyak perusahaan yang ingin Park untuk tampil di iklan mereka. Saat ini IU bisa dibilang sukses sebagai penyanyi papan atas di Korea. Siapa sangka, ia pernah hidup jauh dari orangtuanya karena mereka hidup sangat miskin.

IU berbagi cerita tentang masa lalunya di program televisi KBS ‘Win Win’. Ia bercerita tentang dirinya yang harus hidup bersama nenek, adik, dan sepupunya di sebuah ruangan studio.

“Ketika aku kecil, aku tak punya pilihan selain harus hidup berjauhan dengan orangtuaku karena kami sangat miskin. Aku hidup bersama nenek, sepupu, dan adik laki-lakiku selama setahun setengah di sebuah ruangan studio,” papar IU dilansir AllKpop, Selasa (13/12/2011). “
Ruangan itu selalu dingin dan kami selalu kekurangan makanan. Kami hanya bisa hidup dari hasil nenekku berjualan aksesoris rambut di pasar.  u jarang bertemu atau mengobrol dengan orangtuaku. Aku menenangkan diriku sendiri ketika kesepian dan selalu ingat aku masih punya nenek,” kisahnya.

Sebelum menjadi penyanyi, IU pernah mengikuti sekitar 20 audisi di berbagai agensi dan gagal. Ia bahkan pernah hampir menjadi korban penipuan. Beruntung akhirnya ia dapat bergabung dengan LOEN Entertainment dan menelurkan album.
